Jucee set to open on Franklin Street in May

Hartwell is set to receive a new juice and smoothie bar in town, with plans to open in May. Owners Eric Hernandez and Karli Turner, husband and wife, already own a Jucee Juice & Smoothie Bar location in Elberton, a healthy alternative to fast food.

Hart commissioners lobby against truck weight limit increases

The Hart County Board of Commissioners formally opposed trucking weight limit increases at the state level last week. At the Feb. 8 meeting, board approved writing a letter to state senator Lee Anderson and state representative Alan Powell urging them to vote against increased weight limits.

Questions surround ‘Minority-majority’ voting district

Questions arose around the proposed redistricting of a Hart County “minority-majority” district at the Hart County Board of Education meeting. The board was recommended to approve the new redistricting map provided by the office of Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger at the Feb.

Low Country Boil set for takeout Feb. 25

It’s that time again. The Tony Hilton Imagination Library Low Country Boil will be held Feb. 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Ag Center on Bowman Highway. The boil is takeout only due to COVID precautions.

Legislative wrap up: week 3

Session was in full swing last week, with committees and subcommittees meeting to discuss issues that impact Georgians across our state.  Besides redistricting and the state budget, public safety and mental health are major issues facing the state.
