HCHS senior is putting together an unforgettable season

Mat Dogs compete in region traditional meet

Hart County wrestling had several Mat Dogs place in the region’s traditional tournament this past weekend. Hart travelled to Toccoa to compete against region opponents on Saturday, Jan. 29. AJ Smith was the region champion of the 132-pound weight class.

Lady Dogs fall to third in region after 2-1 week

The Hart County High School girls basketball team won two games, but lost the finale this past week. The Lady Dogs started the week with a 58-51 win at home against Franklin County on Wednesday, Jan. 26. Hart seemed to be in trouble by the end of the first quarter down 14-9.

Hart's winning streak continues in region

The Hart County boys basketball team moved to 7-0 in region after winning three times in the past week. The stretch started off on Wednesday, Jan. 26 against Franklin County at home. The score stayed within a few points until the Bulldogs began to take over halfway through the second quarter.

Farm Bureau ‘Harvest for All’ feeds those in need

Georgia Farm Bureau’s statewide 2021 Harvest for All campaign raised a grand total of $20,000, with a local contribution of $100 from the Hart County Farm Bureau. Proceeds were presented to Danah Craft, executive director of the Georgia Food Bank Association (GFBA).

Clothes Closet looking for continued support

Hart County Clothes Closet began in 1984 when the Hart Ministerial Association saw a need among the disadvantaged for food and clothing. This clothing thrift shop sells donations to operate a food pantry for needy families who have food insecurity issues.

Annual Polar Bear Plunge set for end of February

The 26th Annual Polar Bear Plunge and Winter Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Hartwell Marina located at the end of N. Forest Ave. Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. including a cake walk, face painting and various local food vendors will be present.

1930: House Rep. Charles H. Brand of Georgia, sponsored legislation to the House Appropriation Committee to approve a $1,000 from the war department to erect a tablet in Elbert County to commemorate the exploits of Revolutionary War heroine Nancy Hart.
