Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) reads, 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Spiritually speaking, “letting our light shine before men” is to show or make known our thoughts and feelings according to God’s Word of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is a precious thing. If you don’t believe it, consider the people of Russia. How many Russians have been jailed or worse for speaking out against their dictator Vladimir Putin?

The Golden Egg has been cracked

I was tickled to see people embrace the return of our Golden Egg hunt. These past few weeks, a lot of folks — some that I knew and some that I was just meeting for the first time — called in to the office or arrived in person to pick my brain as each clue printed.

This community loves to plant

Spring has sprung and if you take a stroll through this county, it’s impossible to miss. If it’s not the natural beauty that gives you a hint, it’s all the community-driven events and hobbies going on that have to do with planting. This community loves its gardens and we’re all better off for it.

New chairs come with new friends

Once upon a time I bought a little chair from someone on Facebook Marketplace. It was $5. My idea was to use it in my bathroom. So on a beautiful late summer afternoon I met the lady in the Sardis Baptist Church parking lot to pick it up. She was so kind.

A few years back there was this public service announcement that stated, “This is your brain”, followed by, “this is your brain on drugs.” The ensuing visuals left no doubt about the potential horrors of drug addiction.

Addressing unforgiveness in the U.S.

There are no words that can justify the actions of some white Americans in the past involving the treatment of African Americans; however today the reasons for unforgiveness by some people can be no longer justified.
