Hart coach shares ties with Elbert County

By Gary Jones The Elberton Star Hart County Football Coach Rance Gillespie has several connections to Elbert County football, and Friday night in Hartwell when the Blue Devils and Bulldogs renew their fierce rivalry, Gillespie will add another Elbert County connection.

Volleyball starts the regular season hot

The Hart County High School Volleyball team has had a near perfect start to their season, only losing one match in the first week. In their first six matches the Volleydogs went 5-1 and in those six wins, they only dropped one set.

Bulldogs test their game at Gridiron Classic

Football kicked off at Herndon Stadium this past weekend with the Gridiron Classic. The Hart County Bulldogs faced off against South Carolina teams Belton-Honea Path and Wren in the preseason scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 13.

Volleydogs serve up season

The Hart County Volleydogs saw their first action of the season on Monday, Aug, 10 in a scrimmage against Morgan County. The Bulldogs played four matches against Morgan County, winning  the first match and losing the remaining three by a close margin, according to head coach Kate Beardsley.

Softball looks to bounce back after disappointing start

The Hart County fast-pitch softball team has improved every year with head coach Katie Jo Gentry in charge.  In their first year together, they finished 9-17, in their second, 18-12 and a trip to the Sweet 16 stage of the state tournament.

Hart County High hosting Lake Hartwell Gridiron Classic on Saturday as regular season approaches

Hart County High School will be the host of the Lake Hartwell Gridiron Classic, a football-lovers paradise, this weekend. The event will consist of five football games over the course of two days with a total of 15 teams in attendance on Aug. 13 and 14.

Jui Jitsu student earns two silver medals

Noah Wyckoff, from Chuck Cawthon’s Contemporary Martial Arts, earned two silver medals at the NAGA Atlanta Grappling Championship on Saturday, July 24. The event was held at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta, Georgia.

Lady Diamond Dogs to kick off 2021 season with doubleheader

The Hart County High School softball team starts it’s 2021 season on Friday, Aug. 6 with a double-header at Hart County High School. The varsity Lady Diamond Dogs will face off against Morgan County at 4:30 p.m., followed by Banks County at 8:30.
