Volleydogs fall in state quarterfinals

The Hart County Volleyball team lost in the quarterfinals of the state championship on Tuesday, Oct. 26. On Saturday, Oct. 23, Hart County travelled to Jackson to face the Jackson Red Devils. Jackson was the top seed from Area 2. The Volleydogs defeated the Devils 3-0.

Former Bulldog breaks out

Former Hart County Bulldog Malachi Thomas had a breakout game in Virginia Tech’s 36-41 loss to Syracuse on Oct. 23. The freshman Hokie running back ran for 151 yards on 21 attempts and scored three touchdowns. Prior to this game, Thomas had only 11 carries for a total of 49 yards.

Hart victorious over Stephens in defensive battle

The Hart County Bulldogs survived a defensive war against the Stephens County Indians last Friday night. The Bulldogs won 9-7 in their lowest scoring game of the season. The Indians started the game with the ball and made it to about the 50-yard line before fumbling the ball on a sack.

HCMS XC teams place at Region and State

The HCMS Boys Cross Country team finished first at its region meet for the ninth year in a row. The top three to cross the finish line were all Hart County runners with a total of six Hart County boys finishing in the top 20. Luke Samples captured the first place spot with a time of 12:32.

Indians coming to town

Herndon Stadium will host the Region-8 bout between the Hart County Bulldogs and the Stephens County Indians this Friday. The homecoming game will be Hart’s first game since losing 35-13 at home on Oct. 8 to Oconee County.

Runner eyeing state Gold

For cross-country runner, Diego Martinez, running isn’t just a way to stay in shape. “It keeps me out of a lot of bad stuff that I could be doing,” Martinez said. “Running has really done a lot to keep me from making friends with bad people and just staying out of a bad path really.

Lady Diamond Dogs defeated first round

The Hart County High School softball team ended its season at the first round of the state playoffs. The Lady Diamond Dogs lost in two games of a three game series against Sonoraville. Hart travelled to Calhoun on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The Lady Dogs lost their fist game 0-3.

Volleydogs tame tigers: Hart Co. advances to round 2

The Hart County Volleyball team took second in region before winning the first round of the state playoffs this week. The Volleydogs travelled to Oconee County to play in the Area-8 AAA tournament on Saturday, Oct. 16.

Mason Buchanan competes in world championship obstacle course race

Local athlete Mason Buchanan competed in the Obstacle Course Racing World Championship in Stratton, Vermont on Sept.  25th. He placed 32nd in his age group and 241st out of 704 overall. There were more than 60 countries represented at the world championship.

Lady Diamond Dogs finish 4th, start playoff run

The Hart County softball team finished fourth in region and will play in the first round of the state playoffs this week. Hart County played Monroe Area in a best of three match-up this past weekend to determine the seeding in the region tournament.
