Football players take home awards at banquet

The Hart County football team held its annual banquet on Tuesday to celebrate the 2021 season. Coaches recognized the achievements of this season’s best performers on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Mat Dogs finish second in regional duals

The Hart County High School wrestling team finished second at the 8-AAA Region duals meet on Saturday, Jan. 8. The Mat Dogs beat Stephens County to start the day before beating Franklin County in a back-and-forth battle, 36-34. A tough loss to Oconee County put the Dogs in second overall.

Bulldogs bounce into region: Boys down Monroe Area

The Hart County boys basketball team took its first region victory last Friday in Monroe. The Bulldogs beat the Monroe Area Hurricanes 59-47 on the road on Jan. 7.

Little League sign-up ends soon

Hart County Little League is gearing up for another season with registration running through the end of January. Those interested can register online at hartcoll.org. The registration fee is $80 per child. This will increase to $90 per child after Jan. 23. The registration fee covers uniform costs.

Charter system updates COVID protocols

The Hart County Charter System (HCCS) released updated COVID-19 protocols on Tuesday, Jan. 4, two days before the schools were set to resume.

Bulldogs struggle in shootout as reigning champions

After a disappointing start, the Hart County High School boys basketball team had a lackluster finish in the McDonald’s Shootout last week. Last season, the Dogs finished on top after beating all three of their opponents.

Lady Dogs finish second: Hart falls to Elbert in McDonald’s Shootout finals

After a strong run to the finals, the Hart County girls basketball team fell to Elbert County for the third time this season in the McDonald’s Shootout. After beating Abbeville Monday 66-22 and Loganville Tuesday 62-56, the Lady Dogs lost 51-72 to their rivals from Elberton.

Lady Dogs come from behind Tuesday to stay on hot streak

The Hart County girls basketball team was knocking on the door of winning its second tournament in two weeks by press time Wednesday. The Lady Dogs beat the home team to win the Madison County Christmas Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 22, with a final score of 59-42.
