Diamond Dogs fight for spot in state playoffs

The Hart County High School baseball team beat Stephens County at home to start its final stretch of region games. Before hosting the Indians, the Diamond Dogs faced off against two non-region opponents: West-Oak and Elbert County.

YMCA hosts Pickleball Tournament

Pickleball players from around the southeast met in Hartwell this weekend for the annual Lake Hartwell March Madness Pickleball Tournament. A total of 128 players from Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee gathered at the Hartwell Family YMCA for the tournament on April 8 and 9.

New coach excited to ‘hang banners’ at his alma mater

Hart County High School principal Kevin Gaines named assistant boys basketball coach Matt Gibbs as the new head coach shortly after Harry Marsh announced his retirement on Wednesday, April 6.

Track teams medal in Winder meet

The Hart County track and field teams placed second and third at the 51st Annual Cook Holiday Rotary Relays 2022 in Winder. The boys team placed second with a score of 120, while the girls placed third with a score of 75 at the meet on April 1.

Golf competes at Apple Mountain

The Hart County High School boys golf team traveled to Habersham for the Apple Mountain Invitational 18-hole tournament. The team finished with an overall team score of 349 to place 15th out of a field of 20 on Wednesday, March 30.

Two Hart County travel softball teams played in the Gold Bracket Championship game this past weekend in Jefferson. The 14-U Hart Crushers and the 10-U Misfits represented Hart County in Jefferson.

Tennis teams honor seniors

The Hart County tennis teams hosted Riverside Military Academy and Washington Wilkes for their senior night on Wednesday, April 30. The boys team lost, 5-0, to Riverside Military Academy. The girls lost, 4-1, to Washington Wilkes with Dakota Phillips winning the only line, 6-0, 6-1 at no.

Diamond Dogs lose to rival Franklin County

The Diamond Dogs got swept by the Franklin County Lions after losing a doubleheader at home on Friday. The Hart County High School basketball team hosted Franklin County on Friday, April 1, after bad weather soaked the fields on Thursday. Hart lost the first game to Franklin, 4-1.
