Tennis returns to dry courts this week

After wet courts prevented the tennis teams from playing last week, Hart was eager to see some action this week. On Monday, March 14, the Bulldogs traveled to Oconee County High School to face the Warriors. Both teams lost to Oconee, 5-0. Hart hosted Stephens County on Tuesday, March 15.

Hart County drill teams top region

The Hart County High School JROTC Competition Drill Team competed at the Gladiator Invitational and state qualifier meet on Saturday, March 5.  The Female Color Guard won first place overall and first in region to qualify to compete in the Georgia State Drill Championships.

Fisherman relishes opportunity to marshal Bassmaster Classic

Local fisherman David McGinnis gained a competitive advantage over his peers after spending three days with professional anglers during the Bassmaster Classic on Lake Hartwell held the first weekend in March.

Lake Hartwell hosts Bassmaster Classic

Lake Hartwell played host to the 2022 Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic this past weekend. Jason Christie, a 48-year-old professional from Pak Hill, Okla., took the first place spot with a final-day limit of 17 pounds, 9 ounces.

Soccer teams brave weather in Toccoa

Despite all the other sports being canceled due to rain, the Hart County Soccer Dogs persevered through the rain in Toccoa. “Weather conditions were rough, non-stop downpour throughout game play.

Boys tennis continue losing streak, girls get first win

The Hart County High School tennis teams played three opponents last week before having two called off this week. On Monday, Feb. 28, Hart played Stephens County in Toccoa. The boys team lost 4-1 with only the No. 2 doubles team getting a win.

Track teams take podium finish

Both track and field teams placed in the top three at the 12th Annual Eagle Invitational 2022. The boys team finished second overall while the girls finished third at East Jackson High School on March 5. Madison McClane took silver in the girls high jump with a height of 5-0.

Diamond Dogs strike back

The Diamond Dogs split two games last week before getting rained out this Tuesday. The Hart County baseball team host Jefferson on Wednesday, March 2. The Dragons had just beaten the Dogs, 10-0, in a game called short because of the score difference.
