Soccer Dogs named All-Region

Several Hart County Soccer Dogs were given All-Region honors to end the 2022 season. Seniors Brian Yanez and Tyler Trujillo were named to the All-Region first team. Yanez was a captain and shut down the right side of the field on defense.

Diamond Dogs finish third in Region 8

The Hart County baseball team split a double-header against Oconee County to finish third in the region. The Diamond Dogs won the first of two games on April 22, 5-3. Oconee County was not able to overcome a four-run lead in the last three innings.

Bass Classic casts off this weekend

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce is hosted its first annual Hart County Bass Classic Open Tournament this weekend. The fishing tournament will be on April 30 at the Gum Branch Mega Ramp on Vanna Waller Road.

Girls tennis goes to state playoffs

The girls tennis team advanced to the state playoffs after finishing fourth in the region tournament. Both tennis teams competed in the region tournament on Tuesday, April 12. The boys team went in as the No. 5 seed and ended the tournament placed in fifth, just shy of a state playoff bid.

Softball looking for state title repeat

The Hart County High School slow-pitch softball team is again competing for a state championship in 2022. After finishing the regular season 6-2, the reigning champion Lady Diamond Dogs went to sectionals on Wednesday, April 13. First, they came back from a 3-0 deficit to win over Creekview, 5-3.

Soccer Dogs fall in first round of state playoffs

The Hart County High School boys soccer team fell in the first round of the playoffs in a hard-fought match with a No. 1 seed. The team traveled to North Murray High School to play the Mountaineers, who were undefeated in region this season.

Baseball team clinches state playoff spot

The Hart County baseball team secured a state playoff spot after completing a sweep of Stephens County on the road. The Diamond Dogs traveled to Toccoa to face the Indians in a doubleheader on Friday, April 15. The first game had to go into an extra inning to crown a winner.

Hart County senior Peyton Powell was recently named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Team of Distinction in recognition of his many accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

Soccer Dogs finish regular season, boys go to playoffs

The Soccer Dogs played their final game at Herndon Stadium for the year and, for the girls, the final game of the season. On Thursday, April 7, the Bulldogs hosted Madison County for their final regular season game. The boys fell to the Red Raiders, 5-1.
