A local rising high school freshman is looking to become an All-American in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Valasha Carter has been making waves recently in the track and field world after qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympics in three different events.

Hart County High School has found a new head wrestling coach, who is an accomplished wrestler himself, to lead the way on the mat. LaFayette native Preston McCalmon will take the reins for the Mat Dogs as head coach in the upcoming season.
