HCCS conducts active shooter drill

Prior to the first day of school, the Hart County Charter System (HCCS) successfully conducted an active shooter simulation drill with local first responders on July 30 at Hart County Middle School.

Rise in unemployment caused by seasonal, student workers

Georgia’s Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson announced July 25 that all of Georgia’s Regional Commissions reported a rise in June unemployment rates. The Georgia Mountains Commission (GMRC), which encompasses Hart County reported a rise of six-tenths of a percent to 3.5 percent.

Hart Co. Library to host teen photo contest

The Hart County Library is celebrating its newly renovated teen section by sponsoring a photo contest. The inaugural contest is open to photographers between the ages of 11 and 18, and the pictures must be taken by teen photographers.

Hart Humane Society hosts pontoon poker run

On July 27, the 6th annual Pontoon Poker Run took to the waves of Lake Hartwell, raising funds for the Hart County Humane Society. In partnership with Harbor Light Marina and Tilly’s Tiki Bar, the Hart County Humane Society kicked off its yearly fundraiser at 10 a.m.
