Christmas Tour of Homes returns Dec. 10

The Hartwell Service League’s Christmas Tour of Homes is back this year. Six beautifully decorated homes will be featured on the tour date of Saturday, Dec. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Planning commission recommends subdivision annexation

Hartwell’s planning and zoning commission voted Tuesday to recommend to the city council the annexation of the 274-acre parcel at the site of a proposed subdivision between Liberty Hill and Fairview Roads in Hartwell.

Carruth family takes Adoption Month to heart

Dustin and Ashley Carruth will be advocating for the month of November as National Adoption Month by expanding their family of five to a family of six, with their soon to be daughter Jaydyn giving them one more person to be thankful for in a month when Americans emphasize gratitude.

City council approves fire station financing

On Friday, Nov. 18, the Hartwell City Council passed a resolution to approve the financing for the new Hartwell Fire Department. Council met in a called meeting with the Georgia Municipal Association to approve the bid placed by BB&T/Truist Bank for a new fire station in Hartwell.

Woman’s 16-year-old homework assignment published as kids book

Christmas came early for Ashley Rucker of Hartwell this year. Last month, her mom Brenda Price gathered the whole family so she could surprise Ashley with a gift. The gift was totally original and unexpected, and uniquely, it was Rucker who provided most of the work.

GBI responds to request regarding airport records

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded to a request made by State Rep. Alan Powell regarding an investigation of missing airport records. Powell forwarded a request made by Hart County commissioners to the GBI asking for help finding missing airport authority records. On Nov.

WillaDeans fire ruled accidental, electrical

Hartwell Fire Chief Alan Daniel released a statement Sunday saying the fire which burned down WillaDeans Tavern in the early hours of Oct. 4 was accidental and started “in the wiring trough of the original electrical service within the building.
