Man charged with rape of minor

Hartwell resident Santos Perez-Bartolon, 47, was arrested Nov. 29 in Hart County and charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Cleveland said the incident occurred “out in the county”, as opposed to in the city of Hartwell.

Clark receives Pioneer in Education award

EMS to upgrade computer-aided dispatch

Emergency service workers will be operating a new system that will allow them to do their jobs more “effectively” in the coming months, helping them to respond “quicker” and with more information.

HCHS seniors help with shopping costs

Children in the Hart County school system again showed us how to treat our neighbor this Christmas season. Dozens of Hart County High School seniors chipped in their own money to aid Hartwell Elementary School second graders with their gift shopping at Walmart on Monday, Dec. 12.

ESPLOST to appear on March ballot

The Hart County Board of Education will ask Hart County residents to continue ESPLOST on March 21, 2023 in a special election to maintain a one percent sales tax to help fund various school improvements throughout the county.

Georgia Foundation for Agriculture to offer $70K in ag scholarships

Hartwell,  Ga. – The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture (GFA) is offering $70,000 in scholarships to Georgia students pursuing a degree in agriculture, veterinary medicine, family and consumer sciences or a related field, Larry Haley,  Hart County Farm Bureau president, recently announced.
