Old 29 to receive Earth Day love

The Hart County Board of Commissioners selected Old Highway 29 to receive some Earth Day attention as a part of an event in collaboration with the Georgia Upstate Lakes Board of Realtors during Tuesday’s board of commissioners meeting.

Skills USA brings home state championships

The 2023 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference ended with Hart County bringing home two State Championships and eight medals in total. Students from across the state attended the SkillsUSA Georgia State Championships on March 9-11 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

State Senate passes educational voucher bill

The state Senate Monday approved a bill that would provide Georgia students residing in low-performing school districts $6,000 to spend on private school tuition. “This is a money-follows-the-child bill,” said Sen. Greg Dolezal, R-Cumming, who sponsored the “Georgia Promise Scholarship Act.

My colleagues and I returned to the Gold Dome on Monday, March 6, Legislative Day 28, otherwise known as Crossover Day. Crossover Day is the deadline for legislation to be passed out of its chamber of origin to remain eligible for consideration to become law this year.
