Hartwell Helps EXPO coming back for fifth year

The fifth-annual Hartwell Helps EXPO is coming back in October, presented again by Hart Interdenominational Minstry, or HIM. The community resource event brings together dozens of local nonprofit organizations to offer assistance to people in Hart County who need it.

Fishing University TV show to come to Hartwell

Internationally televised, Emmy award winning television show, Fishing University, will soon make Hartwell home, filming an episode to air in 2020 and featuring not only Lake Hartwell, but local dining, activities and attractions.

U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson will retire

Johnny Isakson will retire from the U.S. Senate at the end of 2019, bringing to close a 40-year legislative career in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. The Georgia Republican announced on Aug. 28 that he will be stepping down due to health reasons.

Hart students learn online safety

Brian Buffington is excited about the possibilities the constantly connected world of today provides for students. But he is also acutely aware of how easily the virtual world can become a real-life nightmare for social media users who may not understand the consequences of their online decisions.

Scarecrows coming back, with some changes

Scarecrows will be standing guard again this October in downtown Hartwell during the Scarecrow Bash, but a few rules are changing for the 2019 edition.
