Firefighters battle truck ablaze

A Dodge Ram caught fire Thursday afternoon just before it entered downtown Hartwell. Hartwell firefighters were dispatched to the parking lot of the old Bells Shopping Center, 136 Athens St., at around 4:30 p.m. to a report of a four-door truck on fire.

FFA carries farming legacy into the future

Anna Smith wasn’t raised as a farm girl in the traditional sense. “I lived in a subdivision, but we had horses and I rode horses all my life,” she said.

HCCT planning carnival fundraiser

Hart County Community Theatre is hosting a carnival event in downtown Hartwell. The first annual Smash ‘n Bash carnival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 31. The event will be at 112 W. Franklin St.
