Collectibles shop to open in Hartwell

Greg and Kelley Gaines have had a dream to open a collectibles store for 11 years. Unfortunately, Kelley was never able to see the dream become reality. “You always sit there and go, “one day we are going to do this” and then you realize one day may never come,” Greg Gaines said.

Memorial Day weekend events set to return

Memorial Day weekend this year is returning several annual gatherings, just a year after some festivities were cancelled or postponed by pandemic-prompted restrictions. The weekend kicks off with the 13th annual Cars & Guitars Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Hart County woman turns 100

By Dan Hunt Publisher/Editor Pearl Bond, a Bowersville-area resident who has lived in Hart County for 95 years, had her 100th birthday party Saturday. Bond’s friends and neighbors, who describe her as thoughtful and well-liked by many, threw her a party attended by more than 30 people.

Capt. Phillips to speak at Cateechee

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: April 20 • Broderick Gene Gunter, 46, 66 Hardy Street, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts.
