A new mural will add a splash of color to downtown Hartwell. It will adorn the south-facing wall of the Hart County Chamber of Commerce building on Carolina Street.

Hartwell Sun hires publisher

The Hartwell Sun has a new editor and publisher at the helm. Dan Hunt, a Richmond, Va. native, joined The Sun this week. For the past four years, Hunt has worked as a reporter for Bluffton Today covering general news and sports, including local government and PGA Tour events.

Film makers were on set last week in the Hart County Botanical Gardens, as a local woman told her story for a documentary about a little-known group of people.

Hart vaccine clinic scheduled, 1 brand pulled

A vaccine clinic is now scheduled for Saturday, April 24, as the number of local inoculations continues to increase and infections slow, but one vaccine brand is being put on pause. The Hart County Health Department is planning a Saturday COVID-19 vaccine clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Plant sale set for Friday, Saturday

The Hart County Botanical Garden’s annual Plant Sale fundraiser is back and scheduled for April 9-10 at 1277 Ga. Highway 77 South/Elberton Hwy, Hartwell. The members only pre-sale is Friday, April 9, from 2 – 7 p.m. The public sale is Saturday,  April 10, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Demolay celebrates 99 years in state

City OKs storage business rezoning

Two parcels of land were rezoned for the expansion of The Storage Box at the Hartwell City Council meeting on Monday, April 5. The business,  which currently has storage units on Powell Road, plans to expand further down the street to the intersection of Randall Street.
