Hart inmate attacks guards

An inmate who escaped custody at the Hart County Jail less than a month ago attacked three detention officers on Sunday, sending two of them to the hospital, the sheriff says.

Gas shortage hits Hart County

By Drew Dotson Staff writer UPDATE 5/13: The Colonial Pipeline is in the process of restarting its system as of 9 a.m. May 13, and returning its services throughout the Southeast, according to a statement made by Colonial Pipeline Company.

43rd Annual Dam Run returns after year off

The Lake Hartwell Dam Run 5K and 10K, one of Hartwell’s oldest traditions, was put on hold last year due to the coronavirus. The 42nd annual event, finally held this past Saturday, featured over 300 runners. The turnout was lower than a normal year but still a welcome sight to organizers and locals.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: April 29 • Ben Allison White, 45, 876 Crossroads Circle, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and felony interference with government property.

Immigrant who achieved U.S. citizenship speaks to DAR

On Friday, April 9, the John Benson Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution hosted Clive Smith as their keynote speaker. The members enjoyed listening to his story of how he and his family arrived from England and adjusted to living in the United States.

Knotheads Bar & Grill opens at former Bobbers & Beer location

The Hartwell restaurant formerly known as Bobbers & Beer Family Steak House is now under new management and a new name: Knotheads Bar & Grill. Owner Tammy Meek and co-owner Karen Meek moved to the area after retiring as correction officers in Michigan.
