Man indicted on molestation charges

A Royston man was indicted with several counts of child molestation and incest  on Dec. 21, 2021. Joey Wilton Bailey, 39, was indicted with seven felony charges including aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, incest, child molestation, aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

Council hears plans for Ridge Road apartment complex

A developer wants to bring an 80-unit multifamily housing project to Hartwell. On Monday, Jan. 3, the Hartwell City Council  heard the first reading of an annexation and zoning of a property on Ridge Road next to Juniper Court.

Bulldogs struggle in shootout as reigning champions

After a disappointing start, the Hart County High School boys basketball team had a lackluster finish in the McDonald’s Shootout last week. Last season, the Dogs finished on top after beating all three of their opponents.

Lady Dogs finish second: Hart falls to Elbert in McDonald’s Shootout finals

After a strong run to the finals, the Hart County girls basketball team fell to Elbert County for the third time this season in the McDonald’s Shootout. After beating Abbeville Monday 66-22 and Loganville Tuesday 62-56, the Lady Dogs lost 51-72 to their rivals from Elberton.

Lady Dogs come from behind Tuesday to stay on hot streak

The Hart County girls basketball team was knocking on the door of winning its second tournament in two weeks by press time Wednesday. The Lady Dogs beat the home team to win the Madison County Christmas Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 22, with a final score of 59-42.

Boys hoops goes 1-1 on week, endures opponent cancelations

After winning the Madison County Christmas Tournament last week, the Hart County boys basketball team struggled in its first game of the McDonald’s Shootout. The Bulldogs played Madison County in the finals of the two-day tournament on Wed, Dec. 22 and won decisively 74-49.
