Maxine Davis has achieved an extraordinary milestone in life that very few people accomplish: She is 101 years old. However, you wouldn’t know it by her robust lifestyle, and it is Davis’ aim to keep going strong so she can be with her family all the longer.

Photography agency opens downtown

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and photographer Shalisha Lewis has moved SL Photography to Hartwell to start the conversation. In early December, Lewis and her husband Darryl opened their photography studio in Hartwell at 8 Benson St.

Habitat for Humanity applies for grant for Rome, Richardson projects

Contractors could be seen renovating a roof that had fallen out of repair along Rome Street Monday morning. The workers were sent to 150 Rome Street by Habitat for Humanity who is currently applying for the 2022 Community Home Investment Program (CHIP) grant.

BOC extends moratorium

The moratorium on subdivisions in Hart County was extended an additional 120 days at the board of commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Cateechee draws crowd for community Christmas singalong

The Hart Community Chorus, The Hartwell Art Center and Cateechee Golf Club put on Carols at Cateechee on December 9 for members of the community. The show took place inside the ballroom at Cateechee.

City plans $12 million sewer plant improvement

The City of Hartwell is planning to spend up to $12 million on improvements to its sewer plant. “This is a big project. We’re addressing a lot of operational things,” city manager Jon Herschell said.
