Plant sale springs to life April 5

Spring has sprung and the Hart County Future Farmers of America (FFA) are here to help you get your flower beds and gardens ready for another growing season. The Hart County FFA will be hosting their annual plant sale on  Wednesday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hart County High School (HCHS).

County denies request to pull back moratorium

A request to pull back the moratorium that the Hart County Board of Commissioners currently have in place in order to allow for the building of duplex houses was denied Tuesday night during the board’s March 28 regular meeting.

Hart County senior competition cheerleader, Sofia Trujillo, commits to Piedmont University to continue her academic and cheer career. Piedmont was first to announce the commitment in a social media post stating. “Starting the week off on a good note with another commitment!” the post read.

Sights and scenes from opening day

Even with the increase of teams and players from a year ago, the Hart County Little League opening day was nothing but a grand slam, as they opened their season on Saturday. One of the many beloved times of the year in Hart County is when the little league opens its season off in the spring.

Racket Dogs trying to find consistency

The Racket Dogs fell on the road against Oconee County, but returned home and fell to Stephens County on Monday and split against Monroe Area on Tuesday. Hart first traveled to Oconee County on March 16 to face the defending region champions on their courts.

Lay participates in Georgia Tech Pro Day

In hopes to make his childhood dream come true, former Hart County and Georgia Tech offensive lineman Will Lay participated in Georgia Tech’s pro day in front of all 32 NFL teams on March 16. Lay was one of eight Yellow Jackets that participated in the Pro Day.

Diamond Dogs downed by Oconee and Franklin

The Diamond Dogs were swept on the road versus Oconee, while also falling to Franklin at home on Tuesday. Hart made the trip to Watkinsville, Ga., to take on Oconee County in a doubleheader.

Lady Dogs split against rival

The Lady Dogs walked it off in game one against Elbert, 5-4. But the Lady Blue Devils returned the favor and walked it off in game two, 8-7, as the Lady Dogs split the double header. Hart hosted the Lady Blue Devils of Elbert County on March 15 for the final home game of the slow-pitch season.

Hartwell native wins Phoenix Bass Fishing League event

SENECA, S.C. – Boater Max Heaton of Hartwell, Georgia, caught a five-bass limit weighing 18 pounds, 13 ounces, Saturday to win the Phoenix Bass Fishing League Presented by T-H Marine on Lake Hartwell.
