As high school freshmen, Pete Hires and I joined Arnie’s Army to march in the golf gallery at the Augusta National Golf Club. On that Sunday, we watched Palmer, the 1962 winner, award the young Golden Bear his first green jacket—golf’s Holy Grail.

Times have changed since the 1963 Masters

Jesup’s Sand Greens Golf Course was a million miles from the Augusta National Golf Club. But a Trailways bus took a buddy and me to Augusta in a little over three hours. I had as much business being at the Masters golf tournament as a hippo trying to hula-dance.

MedLink awards Schock ‘Provider of the Year’

On March 31, 2023, MedLink Georgia held its Annual Awards Banquet to celebrate the hard work of its employees over the last year and to recognize employee service awards as well as the 2022 employees of the month.

Doug Deming to headline High Cotton Friday

With his smooth guitar play and thoughtful original songs, Doug Deming and The Jewel Tones are bringing the blues back to Hartwell this weekend. Deming and his band are set to make their return to the High Cotton Music Hall tomorrow, April 14 at 8 p.m.
The annual Hart County Botanical Gardens plant sale will take place Saturday, April 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. variety of plants, shrubs, natives, perennials, and annuals, including some unusual and difficult to find offerings will be featured. This year a sizable selection of transplants from Friends of the Garden’s yards will be offered at very reasonable prices.

Botanical Gardens annual plant sale to be held Saturday, April 15

The members only pre-sale is Friday, April 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the public sale is Saturday, April 15, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This annual fundraiser is held at the garden, 1277 Elberton Hwy., Hartwell.

School system seeks input on needs assessment plan

Hart County Charter System officials invite citizens to give their input on the Hart County Charter System’s 2023 - 2024 CLIP LEA Plan (CNA -- Comprehensive Needs Assessment and DIP -- District Improvement Plan).
