Local boards are right to opt out of House Bill 581

The Hart County Board of Commissioners (BOC) and Hart County Board of Education are right to exercise their right to opt out of Georgia House Bill 581.
The amendment to the state constitution is not going to do what many voters may have thought it was going to do – limit their property taxes.

Sgt. Paul Agnew has retired from the Hartwell Police Department after 32 years of service.
The Hartwell City Council honored Agnew during its Feb. 3 meeting.
“I’ve only known Paul as a City of Hartwell police officer all these years,” Mayor Brandon Johnson said. “He was always the D.A.R.E.

The new multipurpose athletic facility at Veterans Stadium (above) features a coaches office that faces the track/field, storage/equipment room for the track and middle school football team, a fully functioning concession stand, a hydration station and two locker rooms with bathrooms, a hydration station, lockers and benches in each room. Both locker rooms can hold up to 160 athletes.
