Hart, Franklin counties move on audit

Hart and Franklin counties will be splitting the bill on a forensic audit of the airport authority after the board of commissioners for both counties met on March 25. The audit will examine the financials of the authority over a 7-year period from 2012 to 2018.

Woman crashes into house, loses service dog

A woman’s service dog is missing and she’s asking for the public’s help to find it after she lost control of her vehicle and wrecked into the back of a home on Royston Highway Monday afternoon. Firefighters, EMS personnel and law enforcement responded to an accident around 1:20 p.m. on U.S.

Stolen church van recovered, man arrested

A stolen church van was recovered after deputies spotted the vehicle driving by in the middle of the night while they were looking at a suspicious unoccupied vehicle, that also turned out to be stolen, at Providence United Methodist Church.

Litter problem could get trashed soon

Litter on Hart County roads has gotten worse throughout the pandemic, officials say. But it could get better soon when inmates at Whitworth Women’s Facility begin cleaning up the roadways again, nearly a year after the state postponed the program due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Churches hope to reconnect for Easter

After COVID restrictions prevented in-person worship services last Easter, church leaders in Hartwell are excited to “reconnect” this year. With gathering-in-place restrictions starting weeks prior to Easter last year, many churches were only able to have online services for their congregations.

Tornado sirens blared in the city of Hartwell last Thursday afternoon, but the brunt of the damage from the series of storms didn’t come until the early hours of Friday morning. Heavy winds around 3 a.m.
