Schools report 97% grad rate

Earlier this month, the Georgia Department of Education released graduation rates for the 2021-2022 school year, with the Hart County Charter System recording a 96.6 percent graduation rate. The mark is the 20th highest system rate in the state out of 185 reporting districts.

Carolina man arrested after high speed chase

An Anderson man allegedly led Georgia State Patrol and Hart County Sheriff’s deputies on a high speed chase near Lavonia on Saturday night, which caused non life-threatening injuries to a pair of troopers and led to his arrest.

Hartwell woman charged with murder

Hartwell resident Lakeisha McLendon, 37, was arrested last week and charged with the murder of Matthew Boyd, 43, according to Walhalla (South Carolina) Police Chief Tim Rice. McLendon was booked at the Oconee County Detention Center on Oct. 19 and is being held without bond.

Bulldogs to battle Indians Friday

The Bulldogs will travel to the Reservation on Friday to take on the current top team in Region 8. The Hart County High School football team will face the Stephens County Indians in Toccoa on Friday, Oct. 21. The Indians are currently 6-1 on the year with a region record of 2-0.

Cross-Country teams compete in Athens, middle school at state

The Hart County High School cross-country teams competed in their final meet before the region meet last Thursday. The teams traveled to the Ken Kramer Classic 2022 at Athens Christian on Thursday, Oct. 13. The boys team placed second overall out of 21 teams with a team score of 81 points.

Volleydogs fall in first round of state playoffs Tuesday

The Volleydogs’ season ended on Tuesday in the first round of the state playoffs. On Saturday, Oct. 15, the Hart County High School Volleyball team traveled to Oconee County High School to compete in the Region 8 tournament.

MS Bulldogs headed to Region Finals: Hart Co. Middle beats Madison Co. in semifinals

The Hart County Middle School football team defeated Madison County on Thursday to advance to the NEGIAA Region Championship. On Thursday, Oct. 13, Hart County hosted Madison County for the semifinal game. Hart was the second seed and Madison was the third.
