Commissioners to discuss SPLOST VI during June 20 meeting

The Hart County Board of Commissioners (BOC) will meet again on Tuesday, June 20 with the Hart County Water Authority and The City of Hartwell to discuss SPLOST VI (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax). This was announced during the BOC’s regular meeting on Tuesday, May 23.

Bowersville to de-annex 600 acres

More than a dozen residents of Bowersville, including two town council members and the mayor of Bowersville, filed petitions to annex out of town limits. This came during a regular meeting held on May 18 at the Bowersville Community Center.

The Reed Creek community was left without power for several hours on Mother’s Day due to a single-car collision. “A vehicle accident resulted in a broken 3-phase pole on Reed Creek Highway,” Public Relations Director for Hart EMC Angie Brown said.

Hart County High School (HCHS) recently concluded its second installment of an adult welding course that is being offered through the Hart County College and Career Academy (HCCA).

Preacher achieves 50-plus year goal to obtain doctorate

Dan Bailey was called to preach 51 years ago last month. “Ever since I have been called to preach, my one ultimate goal in my ministry, apart from preaching the gospel and winning souls to Jesus, was to be able to get a Doctor of Theology degree,” he said.
