Each week the local NBC affiliate in Greenville, S.C., WYFF News 4, awards one area teacher the Golden Apple Award. This award is given to a teacher who has been nominated by one of their students for going above and beyond their role inside and outside of the classroom.

City sends support for proposed developments

Hartwell City Council members discussed “critical” housing needs in the community and showed support for two proposed future developments at Oakview Crossing and Parkdale Drive during its monthly meeting on Monday.

HCMS boys soccer team finish season as region runner-ups

After its first winning season in four years just a season ago, the Hart County Middle School boys soccer team continued its winning ways once again, ending their season as the region runner-ups.

Seven things to know before spring football kicks off

It’s finally that time of year. As spring sports near their end and summer is about to begin, one final sporting event is left to play for the 2022-2023 school year. That is the Hart County football spring game.

Track Dogs advance to sectionals

The Hart County track team traveled to Hebron Christian to compete in the GHSA Region 8-AAA meet on April 24 and 26. The top four finishers in each event move on to compete in sectionals. The boys placed fourth in the 4x200-meter relay and second in the 4x800-meter relay.

Webb knocks out competition in Greenville

MMA Fighter Brandon Webb from Contemporary Martial Arts of Hartwell knocks out his opponent Tony Rogers in The Showcase MMA at Double Stamp Brewery in Greenville, S.C. on April 15. After a one year absence from fighting in the ring, Webb made his return to fight Rogers.

Diamond Dogs exit playoffs after first round loss to Pickens

The Diamond Dogs complete the sweep over Monroe Area to end the regular season. They then took game one against Pickens County in the first round of the state playoffs. However, the Dogs’ season came to an end as they lost games two and three.

I imagine that when I was born I climbed into this rickety old wagon. The wagon was meandering down this rutted dirt road and was somehow being pulled by something that I just couldn’t quite see. Then I saw that there were others on the wagon, also.
