Bulldog Sports Insider awards student athletes

The Bulldog Sports Insider, BSI, hosted their second annual BSI Awards in the Hart County High School Fine Arts Center on May 17. So what is BSI exactly? “BSI is a student-led, sports-based production,” said BSI host Laurel Griggs.

Johnson hungry for more after winning back-to-back state titles

Junior pole vaulter Amelia Johnson breaks the state record not once, but twice enroute to a back-to-back state title in pole vault. Rewind to May of 2022, Johnson captured her first state championship in pole vault by setting the state record with a 12-5’.

Dogs fall in spring game; show signs of promise

Friday night lights returned on May 19 as the Dogs hosted Habersham Central for a spring scrimmage game. Hart fell just short to the Raiders by a score of 28-21.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   May 16   Casey Mason, 44, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with probation violation - theft by taking, expired registration revalidation decal, failure to drive within a single lane, improper tag display, and no insurance.

Hart County High School to host graduation ceremony Friday

Hart County High School (HCHS) will be hosting a commencement ceremony on Friday, May 26 at 8:00 p.m. in Herndon Stadium. Senior Class President, Valasha Carter, will welcome those in attendance after all the graduates have made their way to their seats on the field.
During the first several years of our almost 54 years of marriage, Pam and I lived in a 12-foot-by-40-foot New Moon mobile home. The monthly payments were $61.83. This photo was taken after the 1968 UGA homecoming game. We were married on Aug. 23, 1969. We moved to Jesup in 1971. When we were expecting our first child, we bought a 100-year-old house. The payments were $98 per month.

High rent opens door to 56 years of friendship

Wearing a starched white uniform and toting bedpans in 1967, I learned from the nuns of St. Marys Hospital how to make $1 million. All I had to do was work 1 million hours. By the time I was a senior at UGA, I discovered how to cut that requirement in half. My new job paid double—$2 per hour.

Congratulations to the Class of 2023

This Friday will mark a special occasion in the lives of more than 200 of Hart County’s finest. Graduating from Hart County High School is a milestone that is worth celebrating, and it is an achievement that will not diminish in significance over time.

Property owners talk electric, power sources

Hart County Property Owners Association May meeting began with another fun social hour with refreshments sponsored by J & T Landscape Supplies. The owners are Jake and Tim Gray. The featured topic was electric vehicles, accessibility   of raw materials, and future power sources.

High school chamber choir performs ‘Peace of Wild Things’

Music filled the air once again over the weekend in the sanctuary of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Members of the Hart County High School (HCHS) Chamber Chorus provided a full spring concert for those in attendance entitled, ‘The Peace of Wild Things’.
