Library to host annual summer reading program

The Hart County Library, located at 150 Benson St. in Hartwell has a 2023 Summer Reading Program. June events include: June 5 - 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Summer Reading Kick-Off June 7 - 1 p.m. Todd Key – Cirque du Todd June 12 - 11 a.m. Storytime (Theme:  Birds) June 14 - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

School enrollment moved to board of education office

District enrollment for the Hart County Charter System (HCCS) will be moving to the Hart County Board of Education Office. The announcement was made on Tuesday, May 30 and will be implemented in the early-to-mid June.

Hart awarded UGA Connected Resilient Community designation

Hart County has earned UGA’s Connected Resilient Community designation after working alongside University of Georgia partners to complete multiple projects designed to make them more attractive to economic development.

Fifth grader helps fund annual Kathy Ford Martin scholarship

Each year, North Hart Elementary sponsors the Kathy Ford Martin Memorial Scholarship in honor of the beloved paraprofessional at North Hart. This year, however, a fifth grade student took matters into her own hands to aid in the continuation of the scholarship.

BOE to approve final budget June 20

The Board of Education (BOE) is scheduled to give a final stamp of approval to the fiscal year 2024 (FY24) budget June 20 after discussing changes during a called meeting Wednesday, May 31.

Sheriff’s Office warns public of phone scams

Phone scams have been on the rise for several years, and the scammers themselves have evolved and created more convincing situations that trick Americans into doling out their hard earned money. Hart County is not immune to this ongoing issue.

Lady Bulldog Softball Camp June 5-6

The Lady Dogs softball team will be hosting a softball camp on June 5-6 from 8 a.m. till noon at the Hart County High School softball field. For ages four and up, the Lady Dogs softball team will host their annual youth camp.

HCHS Basketball camp May 30 - June 1

The Hart County High School boys and girls basketball team will host a basketball camp on May 30 through June 1 from 9 a.m. until noon. The camp is for rising Pre-K students to rising eighth graders.
