Community baptism event taking place Saturday

Several local churches are working together to co-host an open baptism event this coming Saturday, July 29, at Lake Hartwell. The event will take place at Shelter #1 at Long Point at the end of Old 29. The baptisms are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and will end at 5 p.m.

A Hartwell man was arrested Tuesday morning on four counts of reckless conduct after allowing his pit bulls to maul a pedestrian on Maple Street last week.

Beaverdam Creek bridge opening delayed

The replacement bridge which has been under construction on SR 8 over Beaverdam Creek has been delayed due to the impacts of weather and supply chain issues. The new completion date is expected to be August 31, 2023, according to Elizabeth C.

Reeling in the National Championship

Hart County Middle School Anglers Kale Temple and Luke Schnell competed in and won the Bassmaster Junior National Championship on Lake Hartwell, July 21-22. Kale Temple and Schnell got off to a slow start on Friday morning. But once 10 a.m. came around, the fish were being brought in.
