Do your part to stop domestic violence

A police scanner sits on the bookshelf behind me at the office of The Hartwell Sun. It is constantly chattering with police officers, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and EMS communicating about emergencies or other requests to dispatchers or each other.

Good to see Depot Street project finishing

City manager Jon Herschell provided the city council and everyone who uses Depot Street some very good news at the council’s meeting on Oct. 7. Extensive upgrades to the street’s infrastructure are nearly complete and it is likely to be paved by Halloween.

We're not the 'media,' we're your local newspaper

The rule was the same for Alan, Emily and Eric.  When their noses inched above the mailroom’s table — so they could see what they were doing — they went to work.  That meant by age 8, they got ink into their veins through their fingertips by inserting sections of The Press-Sentinel.

Don't do it yourself, call on someone

By Phil Hudgins At some point in my life — it may have been when I was a toddler playing with blocks — I figured out what I was not good at. I was not good at anything that involved working with my hands. Oh, I forgot: I’m fairly good at typing.

Park idea requires careful planning

If it wasn’t already, the Hartwell City Council appears to be past the point of no return with the idea to renovate and reimagine Hart State Park. That is actually a misnomer currently.
