Hart County Sheriff’s Office holding citizen’s firearms class Oct. 16, 19

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office will be having a citizen’s firearms class on Oct. 16 and 19. The class will start at 6 p.m. Oct. 16, ends at 8-8:30 p.m., and be held at the Hart County Sheriff’s Office Training Room (890 Vickery St., Hartwell).

With frost, clear skies and sparkling cold waters, winter on Northeast Georgia lakes can be stunningly beautiful. Lake Living magazine is looking for photos that represent this scenic time of year at the lake. The selected photo will be featured on the cover of the magazine’s winter 2023 edition.

Weaving love through plastic bags

Many Hart County grocery shoppers have this underneath the kitchen sink, the notorious bag of plastic bags. Now, a local non-profit group promoting recycling and compassion for others called Linked Together has a great use the unused bags and are coming to Hartwell to show how to repurpose them.

BOE plans to lower millage rate

On October 11, the Hart County Board of Education (BOE) announced its intention to vote on the millage rate at their next regularly scheduled meeting Oct. 16. The vote comes following a total of three public hearings on the matter. Two of the hearings were held Oct.

Fourteen high school bands – made up of more than 900 students – from across Georgia and hundreds of their fans and families descended on Jeff Davis Field at Ed Bryant Stadium Saturday for the first Pridelands Marching Contest. The contest was sponsored by the Franklin County Marching Pride.
