ATLANTA - Most new laws the General Assembly enacted this year took effect in July. But some significant legislation or portions of legislation lawmakers passed pertaining to elections, taxes and health care don’t become operative until New Year’s Day.

Booty’s Fish House, seeking new owner, closes after 70 years

ROYSTON – A Royston restaurant fixture for the past 70 years closed its doors Saturday, possibly for the last time. But there is hope that Booty’s Fish House will survive. “It’s still listed for sale on a couple of sites,” co-owners Terry and Brenda Price said.
The Hart County Community Theatre is looking to raise half of their required grant match, or $25,000, by June 30. The total $50,000 match will be put together with the $500,000 multi-year grant they received in March 2024 from the Fox Theatre’s community partnership program, Fox Gives.

As the Hart County Community Theatre (HCCT) prepares for the second half of its 45th season, President Lani Sessoms and the HCCT Board of Directors are working towards raising their 10 percent match for their grant from the Fox Theatre’s community partnership program, Fox Gives.

Theatre prepares for second half of ‘Season of Celebration’

The Hart County Community Theatre (HCCT) is gearing up for the second half of its 2024-2025 “Season of Celebration” with performances of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and auditions for “Matilda” scheduled during the first three months of the year.

A new sheriff in town

As the years go by, it’s hard for people to remember what exactly happened when they celebrated a birthday in their fourth decade. Chris Carroll, who was born on Dec. 30, won’t have that problem because he’ll remember his 42nd birthday for the rest of his life.
