General Assembly kicks off 2025 session

The General Assembly gaveled into session Monday with the usual pageantry and little of the heavy lifting that will be required to make it through the 40-day session. House lawmakers voted 153-21 to reelect Speaker Jon Burns, R-Newington, to preside over the chamber during the next two years.

Humane Society to hold volunteer meeting Jan. 13

The Hart County Humane Society will hold its first volunteer meeting of the year Monday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hart County Adult Learning Center. The meeting is open to existing volunteers and new members.

Swingin Harts ends ‘rewarding’ season

The end of 2024 was a busy, but especially rewarding time for the Swingin Harts Square Dancers of Hartwell. As usual, the 40-year-old club held its annual food and toy drives.
