Each year, North Hart Elementary sponsors the Kathy Ford Martin Memorial Scholarship in honor of the beloved paraprofessional at North Hart. This year, however, a fifth grade student took matters into her own hands to aid in the continuation of the scholarship.

BOE to approve final budget June 20

The Board of Education (BOE) is scheduled to give a final stamp of approval to the fiscal year 2024 (FY24) budget June 20 after discussing changes during a called meeting Wednesday, May 31.

Sheriff’s Office warns public of phone scams

Phone scams have been on the rise for several years, and the scammers themselves have evolved and created more convincing situations that trick Americans into doling out their hard earned money. Hart County is not immune to this ongoing issue.

Bulldog Sports Insider awards student athletes

The Bulldog Sports Insider, BSI, hosted their second annual BSI Awards in the Hart County High School Fine Arts Center on May 17. So what is BSI exactly? “BSI is a student-led, sports-based production,” said BSI host Laurel Griggs.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   May 16   Casey Mason, 44, of Hartwell was arrested and charged with probation violation - theft by taking, expired registration revalidation decal, failure to drive within a single lane, improper tag display, and no insurance.

Hart County High School to host graduation ceremony Friday

Hart County High School (HCHS) will be hosting a commencement ceremony on Friday, May 26 at 8:00 p.m. in Herndon Stadium. Senior Class President, Valasha Carter, will welcome those in attendance after all the graduates have made their way to their seats on the field.

Property owners talk electric, power sources

Hart County Property Owners Association May meeting began with another fun social hour with refreshments sponsored by J & T Landscape Supplies. The owners are Jake and Tim Gray. The featured topic was electric vehicles, accessibility   of raw materials, and future power sources.

High school chamber choir performs ‘Peace of Wild Things’

Music filled the air once again over the weekend in the sanctuary of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Members of the Hart County High School (HCHS) Chamber Chorus provided a full spring concert for those in attendance entitled, ‘The Peace of Wild Things’.
