Santa Claus is coming to Hartwell

Santa Claus made his first visit of the holiday season in Hartwell on Tuesday, Nov. 24 when he and Mrs. Claus arrived for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree ceremony in Hartwell on the courthouse square.

Cocaine bust nets 11 pounds

A charter bus carrying more than 11 pounds of cocaine didn’t make it to its destination with the contraband Friday night. Instead, it was stopped by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office around 10 p.m. on Nov. 27 just before reaching the South Carolina border on Interstate 85.

Food drive set for Dec. 5

The annual food drive of Hart County will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, in the parking lot of Hart County High School. Eligibility requirements must be met to receive a food box. Applications will be given out from Quality Foods parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 28.

Multiple annexation bills pre-filed in Ga. House

A former Hart County High School student has a freshley shaven head and ticket for flight school as a U.S. Marine. Drew Zemaitis is a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy. Midshipmen in their senior year are called Firsties.

Myra Cook is loving life

Holiday Bazaar returns to Hartwell

The Holiday Bazaar at Cornerstone Baptist Church is back again, but with a few changes this holiday season. The Holiday Bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 5, under a tent and outside at Cornerstone Baptist Church, across from Walmart on Anderson Highway.
