In Appreciation of Wild Plums

For some reason that I can’t fathom I woke up this morning thinking about wild plums. The ones that I was thinking about were the ones that my good friend Cletus Brightstar and I ate when we were children when they (the plums) were ripe.

The  2024 summer bookmobile presented by Hart Partners was once again a rousing success as it distributed over 2,200 books to children in Hart County. For the 23 year in a row, Hart Partners staff loads a yellow school bus each summer with new books to give away to local children.

Board reports school enrollment numbers steady

The Hart County Board of Education held its first regular meeting Monday night since the start of the 2024-25 school year Aug. 1. The Board took a few moments to review the back to school enrollment numbers which showed a decrease of five students from 2023 to a median of 3,589.

Tuesday night’s Hart County Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting saw a packed house, as many residents gathered to voice their concerns about a topic close to their hearts–animal welfare and funding for the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter (NEGAS).
