Old 29 Hwy. crash leaves two seriously injured

Around 4:36 p.m. last Wednesday, Aug. 7, after press time, a car crash on Old 29 Highway left two individuals with serious injuries.
Georgia State Patrol, Hart County Sheriff’s Office, and Hart County EMS responded to the scene.

A successful 2024 for the summer bookmobile

The 2024 summer bookmobile presented by Hart Partners was once again a rousing success as it distributed over 2,200 books to children in Hart County.
For the 23 year in a row, Hart Partners staff loads a yellow school bus each summer with new books to give away to local children.

Man drowns at Elrod Ferry; third Lake Hartwell drowning in two weeks

A drowning on Lake Hartwell took the life of yet another individual over the weekend.
According to Captain Chris Carroll of Hart County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, HCSO received a call concerning a possible drowning at Elrod Ferry Recreation Area.

Board reports school enrollment numbers steady

The Hart County Board of Education held its first regular meeting Monday night since the start of the 2024-25 school year Aug. 1.
The Board took a few moments to review the back to school enrollment numbers which showed a decrease of five students from 2023 to a median of 3,589.

Tuesday night’s Hart County Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting saw a packed house, as many residents gathered to voice their concerns about a topic close to their hearts–animal welfare and funding for the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter (NEGAS).

Volley Dogs get swept in scrimmage

The Volley Dogs fell in three sets against the Lady Jaguars of Seckinger in a scrimmage on Aug, 5.
On Monday, the Volley Dogs hosted Seckinger High School in a scrimmage game for the fans to get a sneak peak at what the team will look like in 2024.

Dogs set to take on Warriors in scrimmage

Bulldog Nation will get to see a sneak peak at what the Dogs will look like this season, as they travel to take on a familiar foe — the Warriors of Oconee County.
Hart County will travel to Watkinsville, Ga. to take on former region opponent Oconee County in a scrimmage on Aug. 8.
