Power pole fire delays middle, high school pickup

A delivery driver knocked over a power pole Tuesday on Fifth Street in Hartwell, which led to a fire that delayed pickup at Hart County Middle and High School for some parents and buses. Firefighters stood by near the entrance to Bobby Pate Field House from roughly 2:30-3 p.m.

Hart County restaurant burns Saturday morning

The second Hart County restaurant in a month was lost to a fire Saturday morning. The Hart County Fire Department responded at around 10 a.m. Saturday to The Lake House Tavern on Rock Springs Road.

A tropical storm swirling its way toward Southern Florida could mean more rain for Northeast Georgia on Labor Day and into next week, but isn’t likely to cause major problems, a National Weather Service meteorologist said.
