The Mayor’s Monster Mash has been canceled due to bad weather predicted for Thursday evening on Halloween, meaning the city will not be able to show off the newly renovated Depot Street this week.

Corps to delay fee increases

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced they will pause and reassess a fee  increase for dock and land-based facility permits in the South Atlantic Division.  The fees would increase new permit, reissue permit, and permit modifications fees all to $835 in January.

Wreaths Across America returning to Hartwell

As Christmas time approaches The American Legion Post 109 will again sponsor Wreaths Across America in Hart County.  The Legion wants to put as many Christmas wreaths on our Veterans graves as possible. This can only be made possible by the help of the people of Hart County, Legion officials said.

Donkey tending wasn’t ever a part of Catherine Graham’s future as she saw it, but a business venture with friends and the purchase of 53 acres off of Old Beacon Light Road changed that.  It was a change for the better if you ask Graham today.

Who knew snow cones could be more than a cool treat? The colorful shaved ice can also make a difference in the lives of both students and teachers. As much was displayed Friday when students lined up in Hart County Middle School’s cafeteria for $1 snow cones.
