Wreaths Across America returning to Hartwell

As Christmas time approaches The American Legion Post 109 will again sponsor Wreaths Across America in Hart County.  The Legion wants to put as many Christmas wreaths on our Veterans graves as possible. This can only be made possible by the help of the people of Hart County, Legion officials said.

Donkey tending wasn’t ever a part of Catherine Graham’s future as she saw it, but a business venture with friends and the purchase of 53 acres off of Old Beacon Light Road changed that.  It was a change for the better if you ask Graham today.

Grant given in memory of teacher

Who knew snow cones could be more than a cool treat? The colorful shaved ice can also make a difference in the lives of both students and teachers. As much was displayed Friday when students lined up in Hart County Middle School’s cafeteria for $1 snow cones.

FFA students compete at Georgia National Fair

The Hart County High School and Hart County Middle School Future Farmers of America Livestock Show Team recently returned from its biggest event of the fall show season: The Georgia National Fair. During the past two weeks, the Hart County Livestock exhibitors traveled to Perry, Ga.

Annual Thanksgiving dinner seeks volunteers

The Love Him Love  Them Ministry in Lavonia needs volunteers to help with its 5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. This year, the ministry will deliver food to more than 2,000 individuals who are homeless or homebound in Franklin, Stephens and Hart counties.

Special-ed teacher always learning

Jenny Martin isn’t one to grab the spotlight. She would rather work in her classroom at Hartwell Elementary School with her students and shower them with love and encouragement to learn.
