Six of nine defendants denied bond in Oglesby racketeering case

At least six of nine defendants will spend the weekend in jail after being denied bond Friday in an ongoing racketeering case that prompted the arrest of Hart County Commissioner R.C. Oglesby and several members of his family, among others. R.C.

Hart County commissioner arrested in alleged racketeering scheme

Updated at 6:16 p.m. The Hart County Commission voted Thursday evening in an emergency meeting to terminate the county's contract with Ludi's Soul Food to provide meal services to the Hart County Jail after the arrest of the company's owner on racketeering charges.

Service runs in the family for local veteran

Military service was a family tradition for the Smith family. Calvin Smith, of Hart County, was one of seven brothers who grew up in Northeast Georgia. All of them served their country.  Smith remembers his time in the Army well.
