Christmas parade set for Dec. 8

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Christmas Parade at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. The theme for the floats this year is “Christmas Village” and a prize will be given to the best decorated float.

Nov. 26, 1943 — While most of Hartwell took off work to celebrate Thanksgiving, World War II still raged on overseas and Hart County soldiers didn’t get to celebrate with their families. The Hartwell High School football team didn’t get to rest either.

Hartwell woman wins Lake Living cover contest

Elaine Jones likes to keep her camera handy because living near Lake Hartwell, she knows a great picture is just around the corner.  That was the case in February when she was returning to her home in Hartwell from Anderson, S.C. and the sun was painting the sky with beautiful colors.

It’s likely very few people who grew up with Debra Taylor in Marion, N.C., were surprised when she pursued a career in interior design and art.  While other little girls were playing school or playing with dolls, Taylor, now 68, said she was more likely to be found decorating and designing.
