Sirens blared as a Hart County Sheriff’s deputy, and eventually fire trucks, ambulances, investigators, and the coroner arrived outside Hart County High School Monday morning.
A class of students had stumbled upon a crime scene — a dead body inside of a dumpster.

1990: Hartwell’s 214th Artillery Battalion National Guard unit received the National Guard Bureau Superior Unit award for training years 1987 and 1989 for mobilization and readiness.

Former commissioner Oglesby a candidate despite felony charges

Former Hart County commissioner R.C. Oglesby is registered to run for Hartwell City Council this November against incumbent Tray Hicks. Oglesby currently has two Superior Court cases pending in which he faces 15 felony charges.

There will be a benefit plate and raffle ticket Sale held for Shotonda Leann Hazzard on August 28, 2021 at 12 p.m.
The benefit will be held at Christian Worship Assembly Total Life Center located at 3874 Royston Hwy, Hartwell, GA, 30643. On July 30, Leann went into cardiac arrest while on her job.
