Scarecrow Bash, Mayor’s Monster Mash set to return

Scarecrows will take residence in downtown Hartwell for the 11th year this October. The Scarecrow Bash will run from Sept. 25 until the annual Mayor’s Monster Mash on Oct. 30. This year’s theme is American Patriotism, Strength and Resiliency to commemorate 20 years since 9/11.

A doggone good time at the dam

The Hart County Humane Society hosted a successful Dam Dog Walk on Sept. 11 to champion the welfare of animals in the community. At the Big Oaks Recreation Center, people of all ages gathered with their dogs to have some fun and support the humane society.

COVID-19 statistics at Hart County schools last week reached their lowest marks since the first week of the school year (August 6). After last week, Hart County submitted the following statistics to the Department of Public Health: 13 positive students at a percent positive rate of 0.

City approves multiple housing proposals

More housing will be coming to Hartwell, with city council approving the zoning and rezoning of several parcels Monday. At its Sept. 13 meeting, Hartwell City Council approved the annexation and zoning of parcels at the end of Woodlake Landing, the rezoning of a parcel at 865 N. Forest Ave.
