A look ahead at busy election year

The year 2022 will be a big one for elections, with local, state and federal seats going up for vote this year. Locally, both the board of commissioners and the board of education will have positions on the ballot.

Former Hart County doctor sentenced to 25 years in prison

A former Hart County doctor was sentenced Jan. 7 to 25 years in prison without parole after being found guilty in December of six charges related to child molestation.

GEORGIA WINS NATIONAL TITLE; HCHS GRADS WATCH FROM SIDELINE

On Monday, Jan. 10, the Georgia Bulldogs’ 41-year championship drought was broken by the by beating Alabama’s Crimson Tide, 33-18, and three equipment managers from Hart County witnessed the long-awaited victory on the field in Indianapolis.

Accused Hart Co. teacher granted $20,000 bond

Corinna Crumpton, a Hart County High School teacher accused of two charges related to sexual correspondence with a student, was granted $20,000 bail by Hart County Superior Court Judge R. Chris Phelps on Friday, Jan. 7.

Football players take home awards at banquet

The Hart County football team held its annual banquet on Tuesday to celebrate the 2021 season. Coaches recognized the achievements of this season’s best performers on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Mat Dogs finish second in regional duals

The Hart County High School wrestling team finished second at the 8-AAA Region duals meet on Saturday, Jan. 8. The Mat Dogs beat Stephens County to start the day before beating Franklin County in a back-and-forth battle, 36-34. A tough loss to Oconee County put the Dogs in second overall.

Bulldogs bounce into region: Boys down Monroe Area

The Hart County boys basketball team took its first region victory last Friday in Monroe. The Bulldogs beat the Monroe Area Hurricanes 59-47 on the road on Jan. 7.
