Chainsaw carving artist comes to the Botanical Gardens

The Hart County Botanical Gardens wanted to add some wooden carving pieces to the gardens. As they began to look around for an artist, they found a man by the name of James Brinley who was suggested a garden board member’s woodworking contract.

Sadlers Creek reaches tree milestone

A milestone was reached for Sadlers Creek along Lake Hartwell. More than 1,500 Christmas trees were sunk into the lake, making a viable shelter for creatures of the lake to thrive and feed.

New look for firehouse

Mayor Brandon Johnson reported last week the latest rendering of the new planned fire station, which will be built at the location of the current City Hall parking lot. The build is expected to begin in spring, and once completed, the old facility will be paved over.

Georgia Farm Bureau honors Hartwell native

MACON, Ga. – Hart County Farm Bureau (HCFB) member Brian Fleming represented Georgia in the American Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Excellence in Agriculture competition held at the 146th Annual AFBF Convention Jan. 6-10 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Hart County Board of Commissioners discussed potential boundary changes for the county’s five districts Jan. 24, voting unanimously to take further action on Feb. 15 after it’s passed by the Hart County Board of Education.

Arrests net cash, drugs, guns, and a ‘Hell Cat’

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office made six arrests on Jan. 17, following a drug sting, in which 40 pounds of “high quality” marijuana was seized along with multiple firearms; $11,000 in cash; and a “Jail Break Hell Cat” Dodge Challenger with a market value of approximately $100,000.
