Hart County Charter System awarded Rural Technology grant

The Hart County Charter System is among 115 rural school districts across the state to recently receive a $100,000 Rural Technology grant from the Georgia Department of Education’s Office of Rural Education and Innovation.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: Jan. 23 Jordan Rogers, 23, of West Union, S.C., was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals. Jan. 24 Martravious Clinkscales, 28, of Hartwell was charged and arrested on a grand jury arrest warrant.
Hart County’s Adam Dye has been promoted to the Regional Lending Manager of AgGeorgia Farm Credit. Dye has been with AgGeorgia since 2014 as a Loan Officer at the Washington Branch.

AgGeorgia Farm Credit is pleased to announce the promotion of Adam Dye to Regional Lending Manager.  Mr. Dye began his career with AgGeorgia in 2014 as a Loan Officer in the Washington Branch.

Four individuals have been given top honors as students and instructors of the year at Athens Technical College during a ceremony on Jan. 25. Jess Chavers, a radiologic technology student, was selected as the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) representative.

Fox Theatre awards Hart County Community Theatre urgent emergency grant

The Fox Theatre Institute (FTI), a division of Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, Inc., has awarded Hart County Community Theatre a financial grant award for $20,000 to improve the infrastructure of the building.

Hometown Butcher brings back ‘old-school’ experience

Butchers have been providing the best quality cut of meat to consumers for centuries, but with the industrial age and mass production of meat, butchers have not been as prominent as they’ve been before.
The Georgia Department of Transportation has begun working on replacing the bridge over Beaverdam Creek on State Route 8. The project will require off-site detours scheduled to begin Feb. 7.

The Georgia Department of Transportation and contractor Williams Contracting have begun working on the replacement of the existing bridge on SR 8 over Beaverdam Creek. The project includes roadway reconstruction on the approaches east and west of the bridge. The project is located approximately 1.

Bowersville weekend fire leaves one dead

Hart County firefighters responded to a deadly house fire Jan. 28 on Bowersville Highway.The fire killed a man who was trapped inside. At 2:15 a.m., dispatch received a call from a man who said that a fire had started in his home, and he needed help getting out.
