Hart County Deputies assist Stephens County with an active shooter

  A manhunt for a reported active shooter in the vicinity of Mize and Buena Vista roads came to an end late Tuesday afternoon.     As of Wednesday morning there were few details about the incident, but Brandon Richard Nash, 30, of Cleveland, Ga. was arrested in connection with the shooting.

For more than three decades, American Legion family members have gathered with others in communities nationwide to remember our fallen US veterans. Every December, the Legion honors those who serve while teaching children the value of freedom by placing wreaths on veterans’ graves.

Bad weather causes train derailment

Last weekend’s bad weather helped cause a train derailment on the Hartwell Railroad Company’s line running along Bowersville Highway on State Route 51 west of Hartwell. The heavy rain caused the track to move which caused the derailment on the morning of Dec. 11.

Mat Dogs fall at Elbert and split at Franklin

The Mat Dogs dropped both matches at the Elbert County Duals, but split to pick up their first region win at the Franklin County Duals. The Mat Dogs traveled to Elbert County on Nov. 29 to take on the Mat Devils and Harlem High School.
