State continues to address Nancy Hart Memorial Park

The State of Georgia is still considering placing Nancy Hart Memorial Park (NHMP) on Royston Highway in its receivership, continuing a process covered by The Sun throughout this year.
The Hart Community Chorus presented “A Christmas Celebration in Song” this past Thursday evening and again on Saturday afternoon at Faith Lutheran Church to standing room only audiences. Under the direction of Maureen DeLoach, the chorus sang some of the beautiful music of Christmas.

Community Chorus gets into the Christmas Spirit

On December 16, Hartwell’s Community Chorus presented its Christmas cantata at the Faith Lutheran Church on Benson St. The performance, titled “A Christmas Celebration of Song,” featured more than 40 voices and instrumentalists for the packed crowd in attendance.

Mat Dogs take home second place at Augusta tournament

The Hart County Mat Dogs look like they are beginning to turn the corner going 2-1 at Madison County and taking home second place at Lakeside Evans High School in Augusta. The Mat Dogs traveled to Madison County to compete in the Quads at Madison on Dec. 8.

Dogs rebound against Oglethorpe after loss to Madison

After one of the worst losses in Matt Gibbs’ time with Hart to Madison County, the Dogs bounced back and got a big win over Oglethorpe County. The Dogs were faced with a tough task as they hosted the No. 3 team in Class AAA and No. 16 team in the state — the Red Raiders of Madison County on Dec. 8.

Lady Dogs get back to their winning ways

The Lady Dogs won back-to-back games this past weekend to advance to 6-1 on the season. Hart hosted the Lady Raiders of Madison County on Dec. 8 to finish the non-region series between the two teams.

Christ’s Church to hold dedication ceremony this Sunday

This Sunday Dec. 17, one of newest members of Hartwell’s religious community, Christ’s Church, will hold building dedication and celebration at its new location at 1318 Reed Creek Hwy. in Hartwell.

Hart County Deputies assist Stephens County with an active shooter

  A manhunt for a reported active shooter in the vicinity of Mize and Buena Vista roads came to an end late Tuesday afternoon.     As of Wednesday morning there were few details about the incident, but Brandon Richard Nash, 30, of Cleveland, Ga. was arrested in connection with the shooting.
